On-Site Information

Registration
On arrival please go to the Peter Jost Enterprise Centre to register and collect your conference materials.  Registration will take place in the foyer as you enter the centre at the following times:

Monday 10 September

 

16:00 - 18:00

Tuesday 11 September

 

08:15 - 18:00

Wednesday 12 September

 

08:45 - 18:00

Thursday 13 September

 

08:45 - 15:30


Participants will receive a conference badge which should be work at all times whilst on-site at the conference. Replacement badges can be issued at the registration desk.


Residential Participants
Opal Court is located approximately 10 minutes walk from the Peter Jost Centre and 15 minutes walk from the railway station.  On arrival at Opal Court, please go to the main reception desk to collect your bedroom key.  Check in is available from 11:00 on your day of arrival.  On the day of your departure rooms must be vacated by 09:30.  Bedrooms are locate in flats of 5-6 with individual en-suite bathrooms and a shared kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities.  Towels, bed linen and a toiletry pack will be provided in each room.  Opal Court benefits from a swimming pool, sauna and gym.  Participants can use these facilities at a cost of £2.00 per visit.

Luggage storage will be available at the Peter Jost Centre on Thursday 13 September.


Travel
Liverpool and Merseyside is easily accessible by plane, road, train and ferry.  The region offers exceptional accessibility from all parts of the British Isles
By Air
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is just 7 miles from Liverpool city centre and has daily flights from London on weekdays plus regular scheduled flights throughout Europe (www.liverpooljohnlennon.co.uk).
Manchester Airport offers a gateway from all parts of the world.  There is a rail link from Manchester Airport directly to Liverpool city centre (journey time 1 hour), as well as National Express coaches that operate a direct bus service to Liverpool approximately every hour (journey time 45 minutes) (www.manchesterairport.co.uk).
By Rail
Inter City services run from major towns and cities including hourly services from London into Liverpool Lime Street in the heart of the city (www.thetrainline.com).  The Merseyside network provides direct train connections from Lime Street to other principal local destinations including Aintree, Southport, Wirral and St Helens (www.merseytravel.gov.uk).
By Road
Merseyside has excellent motorway connections and can be reached quickly and easily from all parts of the country.  From the M6, Liverpool city centre is reached by the M58 or M62 (via Warrington) and also from the M6 on the M56.  The M53 provides a congestion free route into Merseyside via the Wirral Peninsula.  Free route maps are available at www.theaa.com or www.rac.co.uk
By Sea
There are ferry links to Liverpool from Dublin and Belfast as well as Douglas, Isle of Man.  The Isle of Man service is operated by Steam Packet Company and located at the Pier Head.  Dublin and Belfast services operated by Norfolkline Irish Sea Ferry are located at the Norse Merchant Twelve Quays terminal at Birkenhead.
Parking
Limited car parking is available at the Peter Jost Centre and Opal Court.  Participants intending to drive to the conference are asked to notify the Institute in advance of the conference.


Dining
Breakfast - a continental breakfast will be provided for residential participants in the shared kitchens.  Breakfast will be available from 07:00 every morning.
Lunch - a buffet lunch will be served daily at set times during the programme

Participants with special dietary requirements or allergies must notify the Institute in advance of the conference.  The organisers will make every attempt to ensure that an adequate alternative is available.


Messages
Messages for participants will be posted on the message board in the registration area; the Institute regrets that messages will not be passed on personally except in case of an emergency.  Messages can be left during registration open times by telephoning +44 (0)151 231 2439


Internet Access
The Peter Jost Centre and Opal Court both have wireless access.  Full details will be available at the conference.


Facilities
Bars, restaurants and most major high street shops are located in Liverpool city centre a short walk from the campus.  A convenience store and coffee shop is located on campus and is open daily 08:00 - 16:00.  An ATM machine which charges £2.00 per withdrawl is also available on campus.
