Once a department of school (if there is no separate physics-based department) is a Juno Supporter, there are two routes to becoming a Juno Champion, depending on whether the department or school has achieved Athena SWAN recognition in their own right.
Departments and Schools that have achieved Athena SWAN recognition
Departments and schools that have achieved Athena SWAN recognition will be awarded Juno Champion status if they have made a formal commitment to supporting the Code of Practice and submitted their Action Plan and their most recent monitoring statistics. The requirements for both these items are set out under Principle 1. The letter (hard copy on university letterhead) should be signed by the Head of Department or School and a senior member of university staff who has authority to enter into agreements on behalf of the University. The Action Plan and monitoring statistics should be provided in electronic format and can be e-mailed to diversity@iop.org.
Departments and Schools that have not achieved Athena SWAN status
To become a Juno Champion the department or school must demonstrate that they are meeting at least 80% overall of the requirements set out under the five principles of the Project Juno Code of Practice and at least 50% of the items under each principle.
Using the template from the supporting guidance, applications for Juno Champion status should briefly describe how the department or school is meeting these requirements and this should be supported by relevant documentation. At a minimum this should include the Action Plan and the most recent monitoring statistics. Other documentation could include, for example:
These items should be e-mailed to diversity@iop.org. A supporting hard copy signed letter from a senior member of university staff should also be mailed to:

Institute of Physics
76 Portland Place

The letter should confirm the commitment of the university’s senior management in supporting the submission and the activities of the department in addressing gender issues.
