Computational Fluid Dynamics - how much is enough?
1 Birdcage Walk, London, SWIH 9JJ

A one-day seminar on the key issues of CFD. A series of papers and case studies will be presented which will share best practice within the CFD users community and open debate on the extent to which we can now rely on CFD data.

Benefits of attendance:

  • Gain the knowledge you need to make an informed decision on whether your organisation needs to invest in CFD
  • Learn how to use CFD best practice in your organization
  • Network with acknowledged experts to develop the deeper understanding you need to maximise the payback from your investment in CFD
  • Improve your organisation's ability to use CFD properly
  • Find out how to use CFD to design your organisation's processes and equipment more effectively
  • Develop a greater appreciation of the advantages of using engineering simulation in today's competitive marketplace

Continual improvements in CFD methods and computing resources means that CFD is now becoming a viable design-and-research tool for increasingly complex flow problems within industry. As CFD practitioners we need to be aware of the extent to which we can rely on the data produced and to understand how much validation we still need to do. Can we just use the general-purpose commercial codes and assume the results are right? Are we sometimes too cautious? Too bold? Is it ever acceptable just to set up a CFD solution and rely on the results without validation? How far from validation cases can you go before further validation is required? Do we still need specialist niche codes in some areas? If so, which are they?
