Support for meeting organisers
The Institute of Physics Plasma Physics Group supports any event which will further the interests of the group and plasma science community. Limited funds are available for:
Self Organised Events - Typically one or half-day meetings held at an organisers institution. Funds are available from the group to support eminent speakers. The organiser is usually totally responsible for his own budget. The Plasma Physics Group requires acknowledgement of their support but funds accrued (or lost) during the course of the event are retained by the organiser.

Institute of Physics Organised Events - All types of events can be supported by the Institute of Physics. With these events the Institute underwrites and provides administrative support. It is usual practice to hold the meeting at Portland Place, London, the organiser merely has to submit a title, date, and a list of speakers with contact details to the Institute. The event is underwritten by the Institute and as such all profits are retained by them. The event must be capable of attracting at least 35 delegates.
One-Day Meetings
The Plasma Physics group encourages all members to consider running a one-day or half-day meeting. A timely meeting can often attract over 50 delegates and with these numbers can break-even with fees of around 30 GBP.
Historically the Plasma Physics Group has provided funds to support 'invited' key note speakers. Funds of 300 GBP can usually cover the costs of a European flight and accommodation. Any meeting organiser wishing to avail themselves of these funds should contact the Group Secretary. For a prompt response it is wise to make contact just prior to one of the three Plasma Physics Committee meetings i.e In the first week of September, late November or mid-February.
In return for any support the Group would expect a short 'Report' to be submitted for publication on the website. This report is vital in the groups end-of-year return to the Institute which accounts for our use of funds.

A number of meetings in Plasma Physics will take place in 2006, including meetings EPS, ICOPS, ICPP, GEC, IAEA Fusion Energy Conference and APS-DPP conferences. Please follow the links for more information.
